Iceland
From 13th to 20th October 2006 the interdisciplinary caravan around Overtures moved on to Iceland, the northernmost country in Europe, with the largest riches in water. Partner of this “Kick-off” was the CIA.IS - Center for Icelandic Art and the Embassy of Iceland in Berlin.
From a standard of living point of view, Iceland is the third richest country in the world. The central topic of investigation was the relationship between Icelanders and water: The participants met with economically-minded and environmentally critical Icelanders, geologists, representatives of the energy industry and artists. The circuit contained hydroelectric power stations, energy agencies, waterfalls, geysers, galleries and museums, making visible the full spectrum of opportunities and potential dangers presented by Iceland’s water riches.
